UNIKEY Systems is releasing for shareware distribution the following
Bar Code printing programs: USC39H91, USC39M91, USC39L91, USUPAM91
and USI25H91.
Our shareware programs have a filename such as USC39H91.EXE where US
indicates UNIKEY Systems shareware, C39 for Bar Code 39, H for high
density, 9 for nine pin dot matrix printers and 1 for the version.
This group will be EXE software for IBM PC Compatible systems.
Each routine is menu driven with simplicity our goal. To start a
program, just type in the program name and poke enter. There will be
a few lines of data at the start of each program pointing out hardware
settings and compatibility. There will be our copyright notice, and
we will point out that the routines can only be used briefly for
testing. Any other use will require a valid use license from UNIKEY
Systems. Product support will be free for licensed users, but they
will have to pay for the phone call. License fees will be quoted on
user inquiry. We have always had reasonable pricing.
Density in the bar code field means bar width and spacing. High
density = small, low density = large bars and spaces. There are many
types of bar codes. UPC is on your groceries. Code 39 is
alpha-numeric and mostly used for inventory and tracking. I 2 of 5 is
numeric and requires very little space left to right, however, it is
an error prone code in many applications. Code 39 is the best.
The routines work on nine pin dot matrix printers with Epson or IBM
graphics. Many printers are sold as graphics compatible to these
printers, but they are only text compatible and will not work. The
routines will work for testing on 24 pin printers, but usually will
not produce acceptable bar codes. The routines are for one wide,
small label printing. If you have two or more wide labels on a
carrier, run them thru again and indent the bar codes to the other
label columns. There is a menu choice for 1 inch high labels, and
variable vertical spacing for others. The variable spacing will have
to be fooled with to get it right. The menus and test printing of bar
codes will educate you quickly. We do not believe that you will need
a fancy manual.
